PERSPECTIVE
[PRIVATE MESSAGE TO THE MESSENGER]
SATURDAY FEBRUARY 9, 11:11AM
The following message arrived as a package via UPS,
originating from a UPS Store in Brisbee, Arizona. (The shipper has
no records of
the origination.) Inside was a DVD of the film 'Elizabeth:
The Golden Age' (2007) and a note
that
read
'0:25:04'
At
that time
cue
in the
film,
the character
of Sir Walter Raleigh gives the following speech to Queen Elizabeth.
It is a very moving piece of filmmaking.
Can
you imagine what it is to cross an ocean?
For weeks, you see nothing but the horizon, perfect and empty. You live in the grip of fear. Fear of storms, fear of sickness on board, fear
of the immensity... So you must drive that fear deep down in your belly.
Study
your charts. Watch your compass. Pray for a fair wind. And hope. Pure, naked,
fragile hope.
